** ADVANCE FOR WEEKEND OCT. 15-16 ** A sign at the entrance of the city hall in Anchorage, Alaska, Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, warns handgun owners that guns are prohibited in the building. Starting Wednesday, handgun owners won’t need permits to carry concealed weapons in the seven Alaska cities where they’re still required. The law will also nullify municipal laws banning weapons in public buildings and there will be no more restrictions on keeping a firearm in a vehicle even if the car is parked on private property where the owner has a no-gun policy.
